This is like a little piece of heaven ~ on earth

A Daddy giving a baby its first bath at the Birth and Women's Center About Birth and Women’s Center

Founded in 1993, Birth and Women’s Center is staffed by Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs), Registered Nurses, Birth Assistants, and Clinical Assistants. Each member of our staff shares the philosophy that women are created to give birth without medical intervention, and each are dedicated to helping mothers experience the joy of birth in a circle of safety, peace and love. Birth and Women’s Center is a homelike, private place where labor and birth are treated as normal life events. Laboring women are carefully and continually assessed by a Certified Nurse-Midwife and an experienced midwife assistant to assure that mother and baby are doing well. The Center is equipped with a whirlpool bath and mothers are encouraged to walk, eat, drink and get into positions that are comfortable for them during labor and birth. At birth the baby is immediately placed into the hands of the mother, and many fathers catch their babies. Each mother receives careful guidance in the first few hours after birth so that when she is discharged a few hours later, she will feel confident in her ability to breastfeed and care for her baby. The nurse-midwife closely follows the family for the first few weeks of life. Birth and Women’s Center is licensed by the State of Texas Department of Health, the regulating body for birth centers. Each year a state inspector comes to review the Center for the state-defined standards of safety.
