Thoughts and Ponderings of a soon-to-be Mom
So, we are having a baby. A real-lifebaby. I still really don't believe it, cause we really didnt plan for it (rarely parents do) or expect to have one so soon (6 months in marriage) But regardless this miracle has filled us with joy and hope and total excitement. We have wanted to be parents to for a long time but I think we were scared, (both having one parent mostly upbringing) "but the time is now," God says...And so we've dived right into this awesome experience.
Now, there are many times that I feel like, what am I doing??, bringing a child into this world,' but I think if we lived like that, we would never see or experience the joy out there. The glimpses of heaven and the possibility that this child can make it a better place.
Anyway, I am currently a nanny for a little sweet bumble bee named, Mary Grace (3mths). She is a sweet thing. A very good baby. This is great practice.(as long as ours is as good! *wink*) There are many things you just don't know about babies til you are holding it and/or in the middle of a situation; so needless to say, I have really been able to get my feet wet.
I take her around town, I shop with her, I cook with her...we have good and bad days...so this is good, helps me feel like I can do it and even without this 'training,' women (mostly) have these instincts in us, so really there is nothing to worry about it, right????
Now Matt and I are living like pioneers right now, well not really, but I just like to say that. We live deep into the property of this huge house ( friends of ours that are lending us the love shack, which is known as the pool house) and we are surrounded by trees that are ever so lovely and all colours of green. And there is a creek behind us (lets hope for no landslides) which is really lovely after it rains as we listen to the water trinkle.
We don't have a stove, but that's okay. We cook with sandwich maker, waffle maker, microwave and plan on getting a hot plate (a burner) and a convection microwave that will bake and broil. (we eat lots of fresh stuff) So really compared to the average person, or family or household, it seems kinda roughin' it...But we aren't. We are more like cottaging it, all the time. We have a toilet and running water(the bathroom sink water does drain onto the grass) a shower and a place to sleep, oh and a big fridge! A step up from the place in Oakville that I had. (mini fridge only)
But when we found out about the baby, and was offered this place...we thought that we would have to move out before the baby was born, cause there wouldn't be enough room.
But as we thought about it and realistically put it into perspective...just because the baby doesn't have a nursery, doesn't mean it can't fit or have a place to go...So we decided that we love this place and we will make it our home and nest for our little pea, til we can afford a house. Hard with a hubby in school, who I am SO proud of.
With a lot of the traveling I have done, as well as Matt, we've really learned how little you need to get by. Its only when we settle down that we accumulate things that are really not esstential. So we are kinda doing this the old fashioned way...I like it.
And for all you visitors, there is room for one couple, or a single, just so you know, we don't want to scare anyone away...
Thanks for reading! Blessings!
